How do you respond to a well selected intervention?
Understanding the 5 Levels of Regulation…
How does your body respond when you implement a regimen intended to improve your health?
If there is no response to an intervention designed to produce improvement, there is something wrong.
Something is blocked.
We call this Blocked Regulation (Level 1).
When your regulation is Blocked, you need excellent guidance and trust to keep working at your healing process long enough to get unblocked…
And when you do finally make a breakthrough, watch for symptoms of a cleansing reaction or a healing crisis. This can also come in the form of a die-off or Herxheimer reaction in some cases…
Feeling worse before you feel better is at least a sign of change and response, which is better than no response… We call a symptomatic response to a well selected therapeutic intervention Negative Regulation (Level 2).
When some things start to show improvement, even while other areas may still be flaring up with Negative Regulation, we call this Mixed Regulation (Level 3).
Positive Regulation (Level 4) is when you feel better after doing the things you know should be good for you. At this point, you can start to trust your mind to navigate toward health. At lower levels of regulation, it is much trickier, and additional guidance is super helpful to get through the challenges safely and efficiently.
For example, studies with aspirin show that taking aspirin reduces the intensity of a headache, but increases the frequency and intesity of future headaches. It is actually blocking the healing process, putting off until tomorrow what your body was ready to clean out today…
Optimum Regulation (Level 5) is when you get the most direct and immediate feedback from your body and can easily sense what works and when enough is enough…
