The 5 Body Systems:
The Embryological Tissue Layers…
And Their Fundamental Functions
You initiated this life as a single cell…
When two cells, an egg and a sperm cell, became one, it was the most energetic event of your life.
From that single cell came two… a head and a tail…
And then four… with left and right symmetry…
Once there were more cells than could fit on the surface, there was the dimension of inside and outside, the skin or integument, forming the interface with the world beyond the bodily self.
The integument is the outermost system, a system that I call Integrity (System 5). It serves a primary barrier function, yet also integrates valuable resources of energy and information from the environment.
From this outer hull of our cosmic vessel forms the Communication system (System 4), the neuroendocrine system. This happens when a linear fold forms in the ‘skin’ that migrates to the inside of the body forming the neural tube and connecting neural crest tissue.
The interior of the growing embryo forms a gut tube, as the body transforms topologically into a toroidal configuration.
The inside of the gut tube and the related digestive glands, as well as the respiratory organs make up the Processing system (System 3).
The next deeper tissue layer makes up the structural and functional logistical elements of the Support system (System 2). This includes the bones, the cardiovascular system and the immune system.
The deepest tissue layer makes the urogenital system and the skeletal muscles. I call this the Flow system (System 1).
Identifying the depth of an issue in the bio-body suit is helpful in understanding the pathways and obstacles to healing…
